How Much Does It Cost?

Every project is unique with it’s own special considerations, and each client has individual priorities. To arrive at a budget it’s important for us to understand what you wish to display and to whom. There are 2 angles for approaching the budget, requirement led or budget led. Typically most projects sit somewhere between the cost of a new phone and a new car.

Requirements Led

We discuss and prioritise the requirements of the project. This isn’t a daunting process – just a way of finding out the objectives and relative importance of different options, and is best done over the phone/skype or face to face but IM or email works too. If price is the X factor then we need to arrive at some fairly clear ideas of what we need to create. Moko3D can then provide an itemised quote outlining various options and their associated costs. Often we can arrive at some informal / ballpark figures over the course of a phonecall.

Budget Led

A budget led approach is best suited when there is a rough idea of what is needed and a rough idea of budget already. We put some ballpark figures on the table and discuss the pros and cons of different routes of directing the budget to get maximum effect. Typically this approach is favoured by repeat business, it does allow us to get a more efficient brief into production faster.

Repeat Projects

Having assets already available from previous projects can in many cases substantially reduce the costs of future projects together, a great deal of creation time can be saved.

Our Goals

I believe the best results come from good communications between all of the people involved including the creatives, and you won’t be redirected to an account or sales manager with Moko3D. Having 15years experience not just briefing but also executing projects across a wide variety of applications and industries really helps.

Of course for our side we would wish to have the best budget possible, but more budget doesn’t necessarily increase our profit. It’s not like retailing a mass manufactured product which has a fixed production cost and therefore increasing the margin, more budget simply means more time invested into this particular project, more attention to detail.

It’s in moko3D’s interests to make every project look the very best it possibly can for it’s budget whatever that may be, and offer all the advice and suggestions we can to reach that goal.

Briefing

Some of the keys to a good brief are:

The Target Audience

  • who are you trying to reach?
  • what should they learn?
  • what should they feel?
  • how do you want them to respond?

    For Production

  • approximates / exact running time/number of visuals
  • creating the assets, accuracy and what data is available?
  • overall look/style/quality
  • what do we have to see?
  • what’s flexible?
  • are there particular things we have to avoid?
  • filling in the blanks, how much input/feedback during production is necessary/distracting for you?

Briefs really can vary widely on the 1 hand it can be a loose as “15 seconds, pacey, with rugby ball/s, there’ll be various live action footage underneath” on the otherhand it can be “12minutes footage multiple rooms architectural pre-vis walkthroughs, day and night lighting conditions, complete plans including lighting schematics to come, also all major furniture fixtures fittings and fabrics to come from interior designers, will need approvals right down to artwork choices for wall paintings”.

We’re happy accommodating either end of the spectrum, it’s always client driven. During the briefing stage we’ll assist you with specifying the area/s that matter most to you, and we’ll then fill in any/all of the blanks.
